Ornella Bucceri

Associate

After graduating, Ornella established herself working on a range of interior design projects such as boutique hotels and high-end residential developments across Italy, the United Arab Emirates and North America. Since moving to Australia, Ornella has acquired experience across project typologies including aged care, multi-residential and varied commercial projects at the Sydney Opera House.

Ornella has a keen interest in all project stages, from design development and detailing to construction, constantly investigating new ways to communicate and share innovative ideas amongst her team.

Motivated by the certainty that great design can positively shape social behaviour and drive communities to a more sustainable lifestyle, Ornella aims to understand the triggers that lead to successful architectural outcomes and placemaking.

Ornella’s biggest design influence has been the work of Renzo Piano- for his profound technical knowledge, mixed with his love for materiality and detail. Ornella is increasingly interested in the ability architecture has to influence social behaviour. It should therefore be architecture’s responsibility to suggest what sort of behaviour takes place through the creation of different layers of interest.

Places are portraits of the community that exists within and around them – if the place is impossible, a sense of community is also equally impossible.
