Munro and Grace Pavilions
Sydney Olympic Park NSW
A Breakthrough in Sustainable Olympic Level Pavilion Design
Designed in anticipation of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) Livestock Pavilions represented a breakthrough in sustainable design, awarded the inaugural AIA NSW Sustainability Award.

The visionary design included simple manipulation of geometric and elementary materials to enable the buildings to provide thermal induced ventilation, daylighting and fire management merely through the shape of the roof, with no more capital cost than a conventional industrial building.

Although designed to exhibit livestock, Studio.SC also adapted the buildings to serve as the Main Press Centre for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, transforming the venue into a village within a giant day-lit studio.

Today, Sydney Showground offers the pavilions for a wide range of commercial, private and public events.
